Blue mood

I have a ton of nail polishes and blue shade seems to make quite an appearance though it isn’t even my favorite color, how possible is that?

Summer is waving a goodbye but I’m not ready to let it go yet, I’m planning to extend that summer vibe for as long as I can. How does blue nail polish on tan hands scream summer? For me it’s 100% summer.

I have more blues than that, but for today’s selection this is enough.

Shopping therapy

What can be more uplifting than a new beauty bits to play with? I love new things. Unpacking / swatting / taking pictures / trying different combinations… you know the jazz, right?

So recently I’ve been naughty and went shopping and bought quite a few things – eyeshadow, some skincare staff and nails (I just couldn’t pass that category, could I?)

IMG_9501

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer – I’ve hearing that most people adore that one, and even compare it to Smashbox ones which quite a deal… So when I’ve spotted that last (!) one in the store I thought it was faith. I just have to take it back home with me. Haven’t tried that one in action yet, but in the store I did test it out and liked the texture and feeling after applying it. We shall wait until a night out to test a primer, right?

Body Shop Ginger Sparkle Hand Cream – I was on a hunt for a new hand cream and Body Shop had a huge sale on all their bits and I couldn’t say NO. It hydrates the skin, absorb fast and easily, doesn’t leave greasy feeling – nothing, smells divine and… handbag friendly size. Some blind but lucky purchase.

Nails. For sure. Misa nail polish in Throw Me Something Purple Please – gorgeous shade. Pure periwinkle. Not too purple not too blue, just perfect shade. Looks very flattering and adds some sophisticated touch to the hands, it looks sleek and expensive, if you know what I mean…

100% Coconut Oil – this is becoming very-loved product among beauty bloggers. How and where to use is coming live soon, so keep your eyes peeled. It’s pretty affordable and can be used so differently. And since it is in a form of hard oil (it melts of your hands heat) it is travel friendly – no spills, no liquid in a bag and nice pot to carry around.

MAC eyeshadow in Cranberry – classic MAC’s shade. The one I always swatted but was hesitating to buy – common on, it’s pinky burgundy shade that you suppose to use on your eyelids. How cute is that? You know it is actually very beautiful. I didn’t have a lot of time playing with it, but I already love that shade. Great in the middle of eyelid over the browns for pop of color or all over the lid with heavy bronze-ish matte (!) crease blending. Planning to do a blog post on ‘How to use MAC’s Cranberry’. Would you be interested?

Have you bought something interesting lately? Share with me, let me be sneaky.

Hello December

The ultimate month of the year? Whaaaat? I cannot believe that another year is passing. Actual I’m very excited, I cannot wait till Christmas and New Year – the family dinner, holidays, presents. What can be better? I don’t know. It’s probably the most cosy and cuddling time of the year.

For December cuddling I have to things to show and talk about. Let’s get down to business, shall we?

IMG_0005

Can I start with nail polishes, please? Essie ‘Leading Lady’. Can a nail polish be more festive? It’s from Winter collection’12 and it’s a berry red full on glitter. Works great either for an ascent nail or all over 10 nails. Next up is China Glaze ‘Lorelei’s tiara’ – on my. Opaque glitter in 2 coats – silver with blue sparkles a.k.a. winter.

Following up the beauty trend – highlighting. Personally I love a bit of a glow on my face and being a person with normal-dry skin (especially in winter – super dry) this is just what doctor ordered. During the winter I go for something creamier since it looks for natural and doesn’t emphasis dry skin – MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study. I never use it as an eyeshadow base, but as a cheek bone treatment – wow – stays put all day, subtle shimmer and a healthy glow. I also pull out my eyeliners. The waterline is just asking for them – the darker the edgier and I kinda like it – Lancome Le Crayon Khol in grey.

Don’t forget about haircare. Kérastase Elixir Ultime. The new addition to my stash, but I’ve already kinda like it. Planning to do a separate post on my haircare.

What can be cozier than worm fuzzy socks? I love those ones – they keep me warm all day and night. Good book, hot coffee – perfect evening.

Diptyque diptyque diptyque… – tobacco & spice.

The spice I love all year round but especially during colder months: its taste makes drinks more sophisticated, its scent – home warmer and dessert more spicy – cinnamon.

Online shopping – the solution to Christmas shopping. Amazing deal, great sales and extra points to spend later, Plus some sites offer either reduced shipping or even free one with certain purchases. I’m hooked. Spotted the Space NK card? Yes, that’s what I’m talking about.

Good Christmas movie. Me likey a good movie. And probably my favorite one, no, I cannot pick one. So it’s either Polar Express or How Grinch Stole Christmas.

For more cosiness you cannot go wrong with candles. I love to burn some scented ones or even unscented ones during the dinner – purely romantic atmosphere in the apartment. I prefer more musky / woody  scents, I got so tired and exhausted of those floral and sweet scent, so those ones are good substitutions. And I may of order a new Diptyque Candle Set. Ooops.

What do you do to get into a festive mood?

Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in ‘Chaos’

Hello, my name is Sonya and I’m a cobalt addict. Remember I’ve told you that cobalt blues are huge right now? I’ve already mention my love for Nail Inc ‘Baker Street’ and Butter London ‘Royal Blue’ in my WEEK HEROES. There is also was a fashion cobalt fav, remember that scarf? But for this time we gonna leave nails behind and move on to face makeup. Image Those colors are really hard to use on a daily basis, I really jealous for people who can easily put on green / red eyeshadows and look gorgeous. I even know people who can pull off purple eyeliner… I don’t know… I’m scared of those. But you should one day, right? Well, my day has come. Today’s magic tool is Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Chaos* – £14.00 – from Lookfantastic. You know my passion for their pencils – long-lasting, creamy, blendable, easy-to work-with – a m a z i n g . They also have enormous shade range.  IMG_0160 ‘Chaos’ is a bright cobalt blue – no shimmer, mattest matt. This shade got me really thinking about how to use it to still feel confident in it. I went for coppery browny lids and this pencil on my lower lash line and on the waterline. I want to be honest – I really enjoyed the way it turned out. Honestly. I got so many compliments and surely gonna wear this look even more than once!
The pencil gets huge thumbs up from me, cannot recommend this enough, as well as other Urban Decay shade – you cannot go wrong with any of them. And don’t be afraid of colors – experiment. Be bright and listen to others. If you love your blue / green / purple eyeliners (like I do now) – rock them! -S

From London with love

When it comes to nail polishes I’m not that specific – I don’t care much about the brand, packaging or even long lasting abilities (I paint my nails every other day anyway). My only concern is color – this is the whole is about after all, right?

BUT … like you haven’t expect that….

There is one brand that blows me away. Even the packaging is soooo sleek and unusual – yes, Butter London, I’m looking at you. Not the most cheap option, but so adorable is the straight shape, that rectangle black lid…oh..

IMG_0127

I don’t own that many Butter London nail polishes, but (yes, again…but) I’m working on it and the pocket is screaming.

The pigmentation is awesome, many creams are one-coat dreams. Neither the chipping is the problem. For me those nail polishes are the ones you cannot go wrong with.

The color I have (from left to right):

Royal Blue – Queen Vic – Slapper – Bit Faker

Love them all, will love them for ever and gonna treat them with new brothers and sisters!

Do you have those I-can-just-look-at-you-and-don’t-touch nail polishes?

WEEK HEROES #8

Have you noticed that week passing by? I didn’t.

I always get so excited to write those posts, cause it makes me really think about that products that stood out for me this week. I don’t wanna grab random 3-5 products from my stash I call them my favorites, I really want to mention meaningful bobs and bits. That the whole point, right? And I never schedule this posts, like I can do with some during-the-week ones.

So let’s get down to business?

photo 1

Benefit ‘Coralista’. Why I even stopped using that blush on a daily basis? GORGEOUS peachy pink blush with subtle shimmer – what is more there to ask? Nothing, exactly! If I was made to name my top 5 blushes, this one will definitely make the cut.

Butter London ‘Royal Blue’. If you follow me on twitter you probably know the moment I painted my nails with this baby. (If you don’t follow me on twitter, well… you definitely should!). Back to the nail polish. It’s just the most beautiful dark blue. Now everyone is going crazy over Essie’s After school Boy Blazer, well this Buttel London one is my boy. Absolutely stunning. I’m sure this will pop up a lot on my nails … and toes.

Speaking of nails. Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. I’m not very picky with the removers and I don’t  use those much, but this week was a SPA session at my apartment – did my nail and toes and both times used this staff. It’s good, like really good. Softens the cuticle, makes it easy to push back. I’m satisfied!

I found my old iPod Nano. Yes, I used to be a pink lover. It has so many good and forgotten songs. I been listening to it non stop! Here some songs that just rock – ‘Why can’t I’ by Liz Phair, ‘Now That We Found Love’ by Heavy D & The Boyz and ‘I don’t know’ by Erika. Remember those? If not now, yes, right now, give them a guuud listen!

Rimmel ‘Wake Me Up’ Foundation. Love it. Wore it. I have the full review on that one here – check for more details and love.

Now I’m off to paint my nails and toes. Have a good Sunday, guys.

Hello November

Can you imagine that it’s the 3rd month of fall and winter is just around the corner? Quite unbelievable.

Actually I’m all over Christmas mood – gifts are almost planned, christmas sweaters are spotted. All set, yep. I also want a bit of a snow, too soon? Maybe. But that’s just the way I feel. Okay, enough blabbing, let’s move onto beauty. This month I’m packing with some new beauty and fashion goodies.

IMG_9924

DIY Knit Infinity Scarf. Remember the time when those infinity scarfs were super trendy? Well, I’m still on that train. Bright, almost neon blue, soft and warm. What is more to ask?

China Glaze ‘Goldie but Goodie’. This is just Christmas in the bottle and I’ve already told you about the festive mood. Just a dreamy nail polish.

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil (for dehydrated skin). This the probably the most review face product? Miracle oil. Should I do a separate review?

The Inimitable Jeeves by P.G.Wodehouse. If you thought english humor is non-understandable, give this one a go. This book is full of ridiculous stories and it’s so intriguing to see the way they sort out.

Essie ‘Aperitif’. The most opaque and true red I’ve come across. The great opacity? Check. The wide, do-in-one-swipe brush? Check. The gloss? Check. The 5-day-staying-power? Check. Perfection, in a word.

Kiehl’s hand cream. This is my all-tim favorite hand cream. I used to love Loccitane one (it’s still good) until I’ve tried that one – no grease residue, soft skin, moisturized cuticle. Mission accomplished.

November Music Playlist. I like to switch music on my iPhone pretty regularly – not to overload the memory and always have something perky to listen to. My favorite is Xuso Jones – Celebrating Life and The 1975 – Chocolate.

I’ve already raved about my MAC palette here – link – swatches and color are waiting for you.

What are your plans for November beauty/lifestyle/reading wise?

And the award goes to …

Being a  nail polish junkie I’m always trying out new brands and color and want to use the puurfect match for each color category. The flattering green, the bright cobalt, the pastel-est pink, the pure black or the perfect burgundy shade. This time I think I found the nicest blue-jeans color. I think I will use it a lot this fall, especially that this color is pretty trendy this season. So the award for ‘sweetbounty best fall pick‘ goes to Zoya ‘Natty’.

ImageIMG_3777

This is my first Zoya nail polish and I quite like it, honestly. I’m not sure whether it’s only this color or the while range, but I found that the consistency is more liquid-ish than any other nail polish I have – and it’s a cream formula, not a jelly one – bare that in mind. I didn’t have any application troubles what so ever. The drying time again average. Moreover the Zoya’s benefit is toxic-free composition: toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and DBP (dibutyl phthalate). So if you worry about the ingredients and want to use only safe products – this should  be something to give a go. Now the price? 8$ on official web-site. Not bad, huh?

I bought mine offline, but I really want to know where I get hold of them online. If you have any ideas, please-please let me know!

THE WEEK HEROES #3

Another week passed & what does it mean? Another round-up of ‘WEEK HEROES’. This week turned up to be quite a full-on one in terms of new discoveries and first-time-tried bits. So get ready to spot new staff and hope you’ll like them as much as I do!IMG_9529_FotorOPI ‘Yoga-ta get this blue’. Since OPI launched this color…what like 5 years ago… I’ve never even seen that color. Even when I’ve become obsessed with collecting nail polishes this shade fell out my radar. This fall the blues are way popular and trendy then ever so it’s a perfect time for my discovery. This is gorgeous dark blue with micro blue-ish green-ish turquoise-ish shimmer. Say hi to the galaxy on your nails. MAC ‘Club’. Greeny-browny shade – flattering across all fronts. If you like eyeshadows, if you want a unique color – invest in this one (or you can google for a dupe  – I know Maybelling have similar one – Olive Martini quad, L’Oreal HIP Intrepid or Wet’n’Wild Comfort Zone Definer shade). My new ‘Shopping Plan’ notepad. Isn’t it amazing? Hilarious inscription, pink cover and it’s lined or dated inside – wow! Dotting tool. When I’ve discovered nail art I knew I need this thing. It’s very cheap and really helpful aaaand double ended. You can buy this on ebay for a couple ob bucks. I used this one to make my recent ‘Wild nails’Benefit ‘The POREfessional’. This is sample sized version and I usually don’t wear primers, but for a night-out duty this is a must. This made my makeup put, no fading and no visible pores – mission accomplished. I’ve pulled out my Laura Mercier TM and felt in love with it. Again. Probably not the best option for this time of the year, but if you fancy something light weighted, fresh – go for it!

Do you have any stood-out products?

Nails Inc Baker Street – the best blue

Well, if you think they you don’t like blue nail polish, then you haven’t tried that one.

This is just the peeeerfect shade. Straight up blue. The one that is fluttering for all skin tones whether it is pale skin or deep one – would be amazing on everyone.

If you still doubt whether you need it or not here is the story for you that may help you to make the right decision (to buy the nail polish of course):

The first thing you should know about my mum is that not just she an awesome person that help me every time and with everything she is a lady (yes, modest as well haha).

Talking about the nail polish and the whole cosmetics range she is more VERY conservative. She denies wearing foundation any time, no eyeshadows, only slight dust of color & no mascara – she hates removing it at the end of the day. For nail polish she accepts only 3 types of manicure: french tips, very dark polish (black, burgundy or dark navy/purple) or red.

When she saw THIS color on my nails she immediately ask me to remover her current nail polish (OPI Every month is Oktoberfest) and put this one on. All day she is just starring on her nails and just cannot get enough.

Well, are you still thinking or already on the way to the shop?

IMG_8501

P.S. This shade is quite similar to Essie’s ‘Bouncer it’s me’ but a liiiitle bit lighter. The the Essie polish is a neon one so it requires 3 or more coats and a top coat since it dries matte. But I do have both and love them both.

Do you need both – don’t think so. Just pick what you need more or less blue one.
