One Shade Does It All

Well, it’s cold here in Russia and it’s an only intro to the post I can think of. You won’t be able to see me without a take-away coffee anymore – I need to keep me warm and cosy every time and every where. But today we are talking eye shadows. Quick twist from weather – this is how my mind works – r-a-n-d-o-m-l-y.

I never skip eyeshadow – this is probably what you already know if you read my blog for some time. I always want more and more eyeshadows and who cares that I will never ever finish them all.

Hello June

Those are my favorite posts to write. Honestly. I dig through my stash with such an excitement – trying to pick the perfect products.

And I cannot believe is already June. Damn, the time flies so fast.

This month is slightly different – instead of just selecting certain products, I’ve decided to go with certain color theme. Who doesn’t love a good pinky-coral orange type of shade, right?

Complexion: I do love a good blush and I rarely skip it in my everyday routine, so this month my picks are the following – MAC MineralizedSkinFinish in Stereo Rose – the recent repromoted product. When I first saw that MAC was bringing it back for a season I made a promise to finally pick it up. I’m glad I did. I love it – highlighting blush is the best. It saves time, it gives glow and it brightens the face. Another option is my all time favorite Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in the shade Tipsy. It’s long lasting – definitely the quality you’re looking for in the summer. And it gives such a healthy glow like you are literally blushing. LOVE IT.

Eyes: I have a lot to talk about here. Let’s start from the budget bits? Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pink Gold. The perfect shade of pink for eyes. It doesn’t make you look ill, but still gives a nice wash of color over the lids. Also love apply a bit of it as a blush – look incredibly flattering. MAC Eyeshadow in All That Glitters – everybody’s love – is there anything else to say? Perfect pinky champaigny shade. Another option is INGLOT‘s eyeshadow in 361M – it’s way more orange than the MAC one, but too brightly, I’d say it lies more in the pastel-ish family.

Nails: Zoya nail polish in Charisma – the brightest magenta I’ve ever seen – may be doesn’t apply perfectly to the pinky-coral category, but I just cannot NOT mention it. So bright, so beautiful and so unique. Essie in Cute As a Button – the perfect shade for summer – make your look tanner and looks more sophisticated then usual pink or orange. And last but not least are my oranges – the red orange one and the peach pastel – Rimmel Salon Pro Lycra in Hip Hop (let’s just have some time to appreciate the name, shall we?) and KIKO in 359 (this one looks incredibly on the toes as well and even better with some tan).

Lips: Let’s be honest here – I’m not a lip product girl, like AT ALL. I barely use my few lipsticks, I don’t have a lip liner, not even one, so the only products I use on my lips are either lip balms or lip glosses. But I do have a favorite ones. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 02 – probably the most talked about lip product in the blogging community and there is a reason reasons for that. Non-stickey, hydrating, squeeze tube, foam applicator, not shimmery. I can go on and on. The next ones are Tanya Burr Cosmetics lip glosses – the recent launch of everyone’s favorite YouTuber Tanya. I went for non-shimmery ones and more neutral ones – Afternoon Tea and Chic. I have to say, I’m really tempted to try the bright red one and bright fuchsia one.

What are you pinky orange picks for the June?

WEEK HEROES #15

Another week another favorites. I think with out further do I’ll just jump into products and random staff.

My Inglot palette was feeling lonely so I’ve decided to get more use out of it. This week’s shade is shimmery brown one – Inglot #423P. Such a nice do-it-all shade. Good all over the lid shade – provides a nice wash of color, appropriate for day’n’night, subtle but yet noticeable shine.

Since summer is way behind and I’m a fan of alive a.k.a. dewy skin this guy was pretty handy this week. KIKO Glow. I’ve been applying it underneath the foundation to have to glow from beneath. Mission accomplished, my skin looked better and fresher.

Tyrone Wells. I use Shazam app on a daily basis and this artist appeared several times there so I thought I must of love his songs. They are relaxing / calming / the words are incredible. My favorite ones are ‘Time of Our Lives‘ and ‘This is Beautiful‘.

TV Show? Vampire Dairies. I’ve been hooked on this show a long time ago but then the summer started – no computer, no wifi and all that staff… But this week I got on track back and rewatched the whole 3 seasons. The better is yet to come.

A bit of makeup at the end. Mascara. Maybelline the Rocket one. I recently bought it and forgot how much I loved it. I just incredible. Make my lashes long an curved and full of volume. Just what I need.

What was your favorite things this week? Please leave a comment below.

The Face of the Day #1

Well, the weather isn’t that cheerful, which makes the whole thing harder – getting up in the mornings, work on essays, doing house-keeping and on and on. So if I can minimize my body/hands movements I go for it. With makeup for example if have a makeup look that works for me and I’m not fancying change it or grabbing other products, or thinking about the eyeshadow combos that may embrace each other I’ll probably just stick to already prepared version.

This make up look works for me for a pretty long time, may be occasionally I’m switching the products, but the main theme stayed the same – rosy/champaigny eyes (maybe with a slight brown definition – pictured above) structured brows and heavy eyelashes – again as always with me ascent on the eyes!

Image

For the base I’ve used my tryst buffing brush by Real Techniques and my new addition to the foundation family Rimmel WAKE ME UP foundation (pop the comment below if you like the separate review on that one). I have the shade ‘True Ivory’ which I though would be lighter. But luckily that worked out well since can use it while I’m tan – bonus!

Then I moves into brows – I use my very old (like really old) angled brush from Claire’s – the one that was bought when i first into jewelry (no even makeup!) and MAC eyeshadow in Coquette. Perfect & non-changed for a while combo.

Then the eyes. I recently got into rosy/champaigny colors – like MAC ‘All that glitters’ or Maybelline Color Tattoo ‘Inked in Pink’ – similar color family. I just swept this all over the lid and lined my upper lush line with the dark bronzy shimmery color by INGLOT. Sometimes I take a lil bit of that under my eyes if I want more intense eyes. And I used plenty of mascara – the current one Maybelline the Rocket mascara.

For the cheeks I went for Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed. BEAUTIFUL color. Nudy berried color a.k.a. fall in a pan. I usually use it like bronzing blush – more like a contour than a blush. Looks nice, well I hope so!

For the lips I went bare, surprise-surprise! Or possible popped some lip balm on the way out. As usual.

Hope you liked the post and please tell me in the comments below what is your go-to look!

Hello October

It’s officially cold. Boots and sweaters, worm tights and wool socks, gloves and hats are on the menu. Let’s get ready cause the forecasts predict the fall and winter to be cold, like really cold.

The make up and skincare are not an exception and should also be rounded-up. What I’m gonna wear more these days? Let’s see.

ImageThe 1st category is my favs – nails! Of course, didn’t anyone even doubt? I can wear brights neons all year round, but darks are only allowed in cold seasons. I’ve picked OPI ‘Everymonth is Octoberfest’ – dark red with purple-blue-ish undertones with a shimmer – stunning. Another welcomed option is berry – Butter London ‘Queen Vic’ and of course say hello to the pure black – Essie ‘Licorice’.

Next category – makeup. Bronzers are the best friends during the cold season. My choice is Body Shop Honey Bronzer ’01’. For the blush I went for berry option – surprise-suprise. TheBalm ‘The Cabana Boy’ – the new addition and already in-love and already smashed – damn….The eyes – the most exciting part for me. This season the olive and burnished gold is very trendy – so I went for my Inglot shade – greenish gold – niiice. Also I’m pulled out my Mac ‘Club’ and Paint Pot ‘Eclair’ (the limited addition, unfortunately)…Mac knows the eyes!

Skincare time! The heavy oils and multi-purpose ones are lined up and ready to be splashed on the face/body/hair. Face-wise:Trilogy Rosehip oil, Argan Oil 100% – both moisturize and hydrate the skin. Hair-wise – Moroccanoil the original one. Multi-purpose one – NUXE Huile Prodigieuse – face, body, hair – wherever you wish. In the summer I don’t bother using masks or some facials – guilty, I know.I feel like during the summer my skin is behaves pretty good and only during the transitions it’s acting out, but there is a solution – AesopParsley Seed Mask (the full review’s coming soon, stay tuned). As far as my hands are concerned they get super dry during fall and winter and I always carry something in bag to keep them company – Kiehls’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve or Loccitane one (20% Karite) – both great the seal the deal perfectly. Lips-wise – Korres Lip balm in Jasmine – the smell…the taste…the results…!

An Ode to Palettes

I don’t know if it’s just my ‘fetish’ or everyone is fond of combined products also known as palettes. There are some that I own and some that I really want to add to my makeup stash. The thing I like about some palettes as that they can be customized according to your personal taste, complexion, color preferences.

For eyeshadows there are several obvious choices for everyone.

1. MAC is the queen/king of eyeshadows. Smooth, blendable and great variety of colors to choose from. My favorite ones are ‘All That Glitters’ – of course, who doesn’t like pink champaigny color, ‘Patina’ – nice all-over-the-lid color, mix of bronze, brown, shimmer, of course the one for brows – ‘Omega’ ‘Charcoal Brown’ & ‘Coquette’ (my personal favorite) and define color – Smut (hint of purple in the dark shade)

There is one new launch that I want to put my hands on – MAC face palette by Antonio Lopez.

2. Inglot – this is slightly new my fav. Again smooth and soft, different colors, textures. Again you can customize your own palette that can be made of 2/5/10/20 eyeshadows. AND there are much cheaper than the MAC ones but don’t lose in terms of quality. AND the great advantage – you can make your face palette – blush, bronzer, highlighter….. wonderful!

3. Urban Decay. Nakeds. Need I say more? The mix of shimmer colors – ADORE.

4. Nars Palettes. This is the ones I’m working on, haven’t adopted any of them unfortunately, but the time will come.

5. And STILA. Again the one I want to have since I’ve heard so many reviews about the quality and the pigmentation and range of colors and nice sleek packaging.

EYES=SOUL

Time to talk about make-up. I’m truly 100% eye-shadow junkie. So eye make-up girl. If I was to choose between lip product and eye product – definitely eyes!

Image

Speaking about experiments with the shades, of course I’m more a neutral follower, but sometimes I can go “crazy” (not much of course and not on a night out).

TIP:

If you want to go out of your comfort zone (yes, we are still talking about the eye-shadows), just go ahead and choose your “crazy” color and make it work the way you want it. On the crease, on the lash line, under the eye, inner corner – whatever you feel. The tip is not to experiment when you have plans during the day. Perhaps you have a day off and you are planning to spend it watching your favorite TV show or doing laundry and cleaning the house – *blink*  this is THE moment.

I’m not saying I have a tone of eye-shadow, probably not (or not YET) but I’m cannot stop myself from exploring the ocean,

I have several CHANEL ones (my lowest reached ones btw), 2Inglot pallets, around 10 MAC depots, of course individual ones, and yes, I placed an order on Urban Decay Naked one, it took me soo long denying I need it, and justifying the splurge, but I finally didn’t it and cannot wait when it arrives!

Experiment. Don’t be afraid of colors.
