Bite Obsession

Every year probably every other person in his new year resolutions says that he/she will eat healthier, drink more water and so on.

I’m actually good at my ‘diet’ – I don’t eat junk food, I hate soda and I love my veggies. I’m not saying it  to brag or say ‘look at me I eat healthy’ I’m saying it to inspire other people cause you definitely feel different when you eat better. I’m fond of snacking – there are so many healthy options – veggies, dips, dried foods and energy bars…my favs. They are easy and fast on the go. If you don’t have time for a proper meal it doesn’t mean to cannot eat healthy.

DIY: Hummus

It’s been a while since my last food related post so I though it’s about time to make another one. I don’t know about you, but I don’t get that hungry during the summer, I mean I do it, but all that heat just makes me more thirsty, than hungry. So I prefer something light and easy to make and to it and what can be more easier that a simple dip?

I love dips – it can spice up any veggie, simple toasted piece of bred, you can use some as a side dish or even a sauce for meat or fish.

On today’s menu is hummus.

The Recipe: BAKED APPLES

As I promised the ‘Baked Apples’ recipe is going live.

The perfect dessert – easy to make, to serve, to spice up, to eat and the most important thing – you stay healthy since there are no additional sugar, no extra fat, all natural and low in calories. Am I dreaming? Low-calory sweet treat.

You will need:

  • apples (as many as you like)
  • raisins
  • nuts
  • honey
  • dry fruit of your choice

There are tons of variations as far as filling is concerned. You may put only nuts or only raisins, you can even leave then ‘naked’ (as on the picture)

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 170 degrees. Cut out the cores with a knife or a special cutter – I’ve used knife,  there is not point in being fancy with this recipe – it is that easy as it can be. Place your apples into any the baking tin they’ll fit in. Then be creative – chop some nuts (hazelnuts and almonds taste incredible together) and some dry fruits (raisins and some prunes) and cover the holes in the apples with that mixture. On the top pour about a tablespoon of honey and for spices I love to sprinkle a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg on top and into the oven for 20-30 minutes or until they ‘get wrinkles’.

TIP: If it an adult treat you may add a bit of rum there to spice it up a bit.

You may serve them plain if you filled them already or if you have ‘naked’ ones or you have guests that are fond of ice-cream you can place a little scoop of vanilla ice-cream by the apple side. Those flavors compliment each other so nicely – just so yummy!

Saturday day-in

I do like to go out sometime, but mainly for a chitty-chat with friends and of course not staying I’m late – not a fan. Those clubbing days are far behind – I more prefer a day in with some cup of coffee, good movie, some skincare or beauty staff and perhaps a company to share food and mood.

Today is the inside day. A bit of pampering can never hurt. On today’s menu we have:

For starters – face mask. I love me a good mask. During the week I tend to use something light and easy, not too fussy, but on the weekends – the whole other story. Today’s option is Aesop Parsley Seed Masque. I know I know…Everyone talks about it, but it’s damn good one. Do-it-all mask. The skin feels so refreshed, clean and smooth after. More here.

For main course – a new mani. I miss my pastels during cold times. Cannot help myself. I did some digging through my collection and pulled this buddy out – Essie in Lilacism. Such a warm lilac color. Since I just can’t go plain – I’ve done some triangle nail art several nails with a pure purple. Looks kinda cool.

For dessert there is an actual desert. The pampering isn’t complete with out some food. I love apples. It’s probably my favorite fruit (except exotic ones of course!) – I love any apples as long as they are crunchy. My fav one are Granny Smith, Pink Lady, Fuji. The best. I love them bare sliced / with cinnamon / baked. Today I’ve went for simple. But the recipe for delicious baked ones  is coming soon! Stay tuned for that!
